Corsair’s new 4000-series PC cases offer a freedom of choice - morrisfromeannown
willis_lai@idg.com Alaina unboxes, tears fallen, and walks us through Barbary pirate's new 4000 serial publication cases, a set of ATX/E-ATX mid-towers.
Personal computer builders can buoy expect a alluvion of components to hit store shelves in the final reach of 2020—and non sporty the art card game and processors that have absorbed to the highest degree of the attention. This first wave of fall releases includes a newborn series of mid-tower cases from Barbary pirate, which launched on September 15 with three models.
As you'll see in the TV preceding, the 4000D, 4000D Airflow, and iCue 4000X share the same chassis, with each distinguishing itself via a different straw man panel. On the lower remainder, the $80 4000D and 4000D Airflow feature steel panels, one solidness and the other with unreal cutouts for airflow. The swankier $120 4000X boasts a thicker tempered methamphetamine empanel, and too includes an additional devotee on with a devotee controller.
Overall, these cases are convenient, with support for small E-ATX motherboards and vertical GPU mounting. They also provide ample space for longer graphics cards, and all but the chunkiest of CPU air coolers will well. Radiators can exist mounted at the breast, top, and back of the tower, with usual sizes all accommodated—the only tiny caveat is that for a best-mounted 280mm AIO, you'll necessitate to check your RAM height to control adequate headroom. You'll incu plenty of spots for cable routing, too, including a removable panel that partially hides the cables routing from the power supply shroud and behind the motherboard to the visible areas of the case.
The important quirk of these cases is the relatively moo come of drive mounting points. You buns install single dormy to four drives total—there are two 2.5-edge mounting brackets and unity hard drive cage that houses either two 2.5-inch or two 3.5-edge drives. Precondition 4000 series' relatively taxon layout and average dimensions for a mid-loom, Corsair could have easily fit other 2.5-edge bracket or two within the showcase.
One note for those who've been wait to buy i of Corsair's existent cases: Eventually, the 4000 series cases will replace existing models in the Barbary pirate lineup. The 4000D and 4000D Air flow will absorb the 275R and 275R Airflow's spots, respectively, while the 4000X will eventually succeed the iCue 465X RGB. However, the company says that the commute is not immediate, so you still accept clock time to pee-pee a purchase.
